Rosie the Hedgehog

September 12, 2008

So I got another animal don’t ask me why. I just did her name is Rosie the Hedgehog. Why didn’t you name her Sonic or Spike or something cool. Side note** Rose is Sonics Girl so i call her rosie. plus she is albino which is awesome.

First question.

YES! her quills are very sharp and they can draw blood.

So Christina found her on Craig’s List and said look a hedgehog awesome we don’t have enough animals can we get her you would love her. So i said NO. then i said maybe. then i said yeah sure call them and see. the woman that sold her too us had a allergic reaction every time she got stabbed she hived up. but they are really shy creatures and they take awhile to trust you. all they do is ball up and stick there quills out. and man do they hurt. but its been about two weeks and i think i am starting to gain her trust. I am now able to pick her up out of her cage without her poking me and her quills down. They are really intresting animals and i was just wanting to let the world know i got a new animal.

whats the count up to now?

9 Cats

4 Dogs

4 Fish

2 Goats

1 Rabbit

1 Frog

1 Hedgehog

Yup thats about it.

Strawberries Galore

June 3, 2008

I am in the middle of my first harvest right now. My strawberry patch is producing lots and lots of strawberries. last night christina & I picked 25 pounds of strawberries. Yeah 25 lbs. i didn’t believe it either till i saw my whole kitchen table filled with strawberries. I originally thought i was only going to produce 15 to 20 lbs out of our patch. I totally miscalculated so far we have picked around 37 lbs. WOW you say. yes our patch is around 30 feet by 50 feet. its a good size and its just over run with strawberries. we have a crazy amount its taking up our fridge completely. i am selling them as fast as i can but i still can’t sell fast enough. I am selling them for 3 bucks a pint (pints a pound the world around) good way to remember how big a pint is. i know in a couple of days I’m going to have at least another 20lbs. to pick too. I personally don’t really care for Strawberries. But i do love me a smoothie so i have been having some smoothies with fresh strawberries in it. good stuff.

Farm’n it up.

May 25, 2008

Last night for the first time in Christina’s Life she planted a garden. its a pretty decent sized one at that. She did one hell of job and the best part she seemed to enjoy doing it. which is one thing most people don’t like to do take care of things. i love doing it. we planted half of them last night and the rest we just got done planting. she has been working like crazy outside and it is great to see her so into something i think she finally found her hobby that is going to stick. we got alot planted everything is seed right now so it will hopefully be little sprouts in a few weeks. but to rant off the things we got planted

  • Peas
  • Cucumber
  • Peppers
  • Carrots
  • Pumpkins
  • Sunflowers
  • Tomatoes

oh and that not all. all the berries we have we have are:

  • grapes
  • blueberrys
  • raspberrys
  • blackberrys
  • strawberrys

and they are all starting to bloom. its a great thing see theses things grow but the only part about it i don’t really eat all this stuff i just like to grow it. . . .ironic. . . maybe.
